When Your Family Is Complicated, Your Legal Representation Shouldn't Be.
Family law matters are rarely just legal problems. They involve people, relationships, history, children, finances, and emotions — all at once.
I understand that some family law cases are genuinely complicated. High-conflict relationships, custody and placement disputes, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental-health concerns, difficult co-parenting dynamics, complicated assets, long marriages, lengthy separations, and post-judgement problems can require more than a standard approach.
Sometimes the solution requires creativity. Sometimes it requires patience. Sometimes it requires drawing a very clear line.
And sometimes, the most important thing I can do for a client is tell them that the position they want to take isn't the position that I believe is in their best interest.
My goal is not to create conflict where none is necessary. My goal is to help you understand where you stand, protect what matters, and find a path forward that allows both parties—and especially the children—to move on with their lives.
Children should not be placed in the middle of adult conflicts. Whenever possible, I work towards solutions that protect children from becoming pawns in disputes that belong between their parents.
Every family is different. Your legal strategy should be, too.
Estate Planning Isn't About Death. It's About Taking Care of the People Who Are Still Here.
Estate planning is about much more than deciding who receives your property someday.
It is about making sure the right people can make decisions when you cannot. It is about protecting the people you love, providing direction when circumstances become difficult, and giving your family a roadmap instead of leaving them to figure everything out on their own.
Your family may not look like anyone else's.
You may have children from a previous relationship, a blended family, a family member who needs additional protection, a business, complicated assets, or very specific wishes about what should happen if you become incapacitated or after you are gone.
You may already have a good idea of what you want. My job is to help you understand how those wishes fit within the legal framework—and to help you identify places where a different approach may better accomplish what you are trying to achieve.
The goal isn't simply to create documents.
The goal is to create a plan that works.
And perhaps just as importantly, a plan that makes things easier for the people who will one day have to rely on it.

I became an attorney because I am a natural helper.
I have always been the person people turn to when something is complicated, when they don't know what to do next, or when they simply need someone willing to sit down and figure it out with them.
Law gave me a way to do that professionally.
I know that most people don't wake up one morning hoping to need a lawyer. Usually, something has happened. A marriage has become complicated. A family is struggling to make decisions about children. A difficult relationship has become a legal problem. Or someone has realized that the plan they have for their family isn't yet reflected in the documents that will protect it.
Those situations can feel overwhelming. My job is to bring some order to that chaos.
I listen. I ask questions. I explain what the law actually means and how it applies to your situation. I help you understand your options, develop a plan, and decide where you want to go from there.
And I will tell you the truth—even when it isn't what you hoped to hear.
That doesn't mean I won't fight for you. I will.
It means I believe good advocacy requires judgement. Sometimes the right answer is to stand your ground. Sometimes it is to negotiate. Sometimes it is to find a creative solution that nobody initially considered. And sometimes the best thing I can do for a client is explain why I think they should reconsider the position they came in with.
You know your life and your family. I know the law. Good representation comes from bringing those two things together.
My interest in family law is personal as well as professional.
I watched my own parents navigate a difficult divorce, and I have since walked alongside others experiencing their own complicated family circumstances. I understand that family law disputes rarely exist in a vacuum. There is history, emotion, finances, children, relationships, and sometimes years of accumulated conflict behind what may appear on paper to be a simple legal issue.
I believe there is tremendous value in finding solid ground that allows people to move forward with their lives—while protecting children from being caught in the middle of adult conflict whenever possible.
Estate planning comes from a different place, but with much of the same philosophy.
I have experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating an estate without a will or trust. During a time when a family is already grieving, the absence of a clear plan can create uncertainty, frustration, and unnecessary complications.
That reinforced something for me: estate planning isn't really about death.
It is about taking care of the people who are still here.
A good estate plan gives your family a roadmap. It helps ensure that the right people can make decisions when you cannot, that your wishes are understood, and that the people you love aren't left trying to figure everything out during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
I don't believe in making legal matters more complicated than they need to be.
I don't believe in telling clients only what they want to hear.
And I don't believe that every problem requires a fight.
I believe in understanding the entire situation, identifying what actually matters, explaining the law clearly, and developing a practical strategy for moving forward.
I also believe you should have a voice in your own legal matter.
My role is to give you the information, perspective, and legal guidance you need to make informed decisions. If you have a position you feel strongly about, I will listen to you and advocate for it. If I believe there is a better path, I will tell you that, too.
At the end of the day, you are the person who has to live with the decisions we make together.
My job is to help make sure those decisions are informed, intentional, and legally sound.
You don't need to walk into my office with everything figured out.
You don't need to know exactly what legal services you need.
And you don't need to have a perfectly organized story.
Bring me what you have. Tell me what is happening. We'll start there.
I'm here to help you understand where you are, where you want to go, and how we can get there.
