Estate Planning
Estate Planning Isn't About Death. It's About Taking Care of the People Who Are Still Here.
Estate planning is about much more than deciding who receives your property someday.
It is about making sure the right people can make decisions when you cannot. It is about protecting the people you love, providing direction when circumstances become difficult, and giving your family a roadmap instead of leaving them to figure everything out on their own.
Your family may not look like anyone else's.
You may have children from a previous relationship, a blended family, a family member who needs additional protection, a business, complicated assets, or very specific wishes about what should happen if you become incapacitated or after you are gone.
You may already have a good idea of what you want. My job is to help you understand how those wishes fit within the legal framework—and to help you identify places where a different approach may better accomplish what you are trying to achieve.
The goal isn't simply to create documents.
The goal is to create a plan that works.
And perhaps just as importantly, a plan that makes things easier for the people who will one day have to rely on it.
